Raytheon awarded $580 million production contract for Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band

Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, has received a follow-on production contract valued at USD 580 million from the US Navy for the Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) system.

In accordance with the contract, Raytheon is set to deliver supplementary production units of the NGJ-MB pod shipsets, which will include pods designated for the Royal Australian Air Force, along with spare parts and specialized support equipment.

The NGJ-MB programme is a collaborative initiative for development and production with the Royal Australian Air Force. This airborne electronic attack system comprises two pods equipped with active electronically scanned arrays that emit signals in the mid-band frequency range. The US Navy utilizes the NGJ-MB on the EA-18G Growler to engage advanced radar threats, communication systems, data links, and unconventional radio frequency threats.

“Offensive Electronic Attack provides a tremendous combat capability, protecting strike packages, kinetic weapons and high-value airborne assets across a broad range of missions,” said Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon.

“With this contract, we’ll ensure that our naval aviators in all theaters are better prepared to counter adversary threats and support the Joint Fight.”
