Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) have reached an agreement to update their existing contract for the development and production of the JAS 39 Gripen E fighter aircraft. The revised agreement will include additional functionality, such as modifications to the electronic warfare, communication, and reconnaissance systems. The delivery schedules for both the Gripen E and Gripen C/D will also be adjusted as part of the agreement.
In order to secure the Swedish Armed Forces’ operative fighter capability, the Armed Forces, FMV and Saab have agreed on adjusted development- and delivery plans, enabling continued development and operation of Gripen C/D after 2030 in parallel with the introduction of the next generation fighter, Gripen E.
“This agreement further underlines the very close collaboration between Saab, FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces.
