HENSOLDT to deliver air defence radars to Latvia and Slovenia

HENSOLDT will supply its TRML-4D radars to Latvia and Slovenia as part of the German European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI).

The radars, which form part of an order worth more than EUR 100 million from Diehl Defence, will be deployed in the two ESSI countries as part of the IRIS-T SLM air defence system. Currently, HENSOLDT has over 80 air defence radars of various ranges under contract as part of the ESSI initiative alone.

The TRML-4D which HENSOLDT states has demonstrated exceptional detection performance in Ukraine emerged as the top choice during rigorous live tests in Latvia. It is equipped with the latest AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology, allowing for the detection and tracking of approximately 1,500 targets within a radius of up to 250 kilometres.

This radar system is designed to effectively and rapidly detect and track various air targets such as cruise missiles, rockets, drones, and aircraft, and accurately classify them for engagement.

HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre said: “The pent-up demand in European air defence is enormous. We have already made so much progress with the expansion of our production capacity that we can already supply all customers in record time.”
