The Hellenic Air Force has taken delivery of the first upgraded F-16 fighter jets from the United States as part of Greece’s $1.5 billion fighter modernisation programme.

Two upgraded F-16 fighters arrived at the Tanagra air base and are the first of a total of 83 aircraft that will be upgraded to the Block 72 variant which are expected to be delivered to Greece by 2027.

As part of the upgrade, the F-16s are being refitted with advanced electronics, radar and weapons capabilities by Lockheed Martin.
