Belgium to transfer weapons, equipment to Ukraine

The Belgian Minister of Defence, Ludovin Dedonder, said that Belgium will send a new military package worth over €12 million to Ukraine.

Belgium will supply Ukraine with FN M2HB .50 calibre heavy machine guns (HMG), along with ammunition for them.

Also included in the package will be winter clothing and equipment, protective helmets, and optics. Belgium also plans to hand over ambulances and medical evacuation vehicles in early 2023.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Belgium has provided Ukraine with arms and other aid worth €45 million, including machine guns, anti-tank weapons and medical equipment.

The M2HB (HMG) is manufactured by the Belgian company Fabrique Nationale (FN) and belongs to the family of American Browning machine guns.
