Lithuania transferred 50 M113 APCs to Ukraine

Lithuania has transferred 50 M113 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Lithuanian Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas announced on 26 September.

“As to military assistance to Ukraine, Lithuania has supported and will continue to support it,” Arvydas Anusauskas told reporters after the State Defense Council’s meeting.

“Our armored vehicles arrived in Ukraine (…) just three days ago, and now 50 M113s have already been handed over to Ukraine,” he said.

Arvydas Anusauskas also stated that he expected the earlier arrival of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) from the U.S. to compensate for the transfer of the M113s.

“Our army is a NATO army, its capacity is also important for our allies who are here. As a result, every consideration, if it concerns the reduction of capabilities, surrender, we have to discuss how we will compensate, and with the allies. There are many issues that are not resolved very quickly,” he said.
